Early voting, or absentee ballot? Here in FL, the Democratic party has been strongly urging us to vote by mail, so there’s a paper record of our vote. I’d say we’ve gotten at least five mailings with postcards to send in to request our absentee ballots. I’m curious to know if this is just a Florida thing or not….
I did early voting, but the NM Democratic party is heavily encouraging both early voting and voting by mail. One thing different here — very different than Colorado — is that all of the ballots are paper. When I lived in CO, it was all touch screen, without a paper record as far as I’m aware. Paper is a good thing.
After a childhood of immersion in my family's religious tradition, I hit college and my first true experience with the question, "why?" Why did I believe as I did? If I thought about it, I had no idea. So, I spent the next ten years not thinking about it.
.
Once I hit 30, I began asking myself that question all over again. A few years later, I woke one day to realize that I simply didn't believe. For many reasons, I am a much happier (and more emotionally healthy) person having let go of god. There are still days that I wish god did exist. It would be a relief to relinquish responsibility to a greater power.
.
But, even better, I can see life for what it is, and work with reality. That's more powerful than any god could hope to be.

Oh, and I even got a robocall from Governor Bill (Richardson), reminding me that I should go. vote. NOW!
It made me smile, but then I like Bill R a lot.
