Welcome to reality. If you lived here, you’d be home now.

This meme making the rounds at Facebook has looked like fun; today, I finally made the time for some Photoshopping unrelated to my blog theme.

To join in the fun:

CREATE YOUR BAND NAME & ALBUM COVER:

To Do This

1 – Go to random Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first article you get is the name of your band.

2 – Go to random Quotations Page:
http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote on the page is the album title.

3 – Look at the pretty Flickr pictures at
http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 – Use Photoshop, Gimp, etc. to put it all together.

5 – Post it to FB in a note with this text and TAG the friends you want to join in.

Make beautiful music!

I had to try the random bits, and my band is called GUDGEON, after the USS Gudgeon submarine. Check out our new album, GUDGEON: An Important Survival Tool.

We’re headlining the second stage at the Florida DeathMetalFest.

After a childhood of immersion in my family's religious tradition, I hit college and my first true experience with the question, "why?" Why did I believe as I did? If I thought about it, I had no idea. So, I spent the next ten years not thinking about it.

.

Once I hit 30, I began asking myself that question all over again. A few years later, I woke one day to realize that I simply didn't believe. For many reasons, I am a much happier (and more emotionally healthy) person having let go of god. There are still days that I wish god did exist. It would be a relief to relinquish responsibility to a greater power.

.

But, even better, I can see life for what it is, and work with reality. That's more powerful than any god could hope to be.
